Digital transformation is creating a profound convergence of digital and physical products and services. This is causing worlds to collide and challenging and calling into question the established understanding of products in the disciplines concerned. At the same time, industrial reality often changes faster than academic research and education. While software is increasingly being generated by machines, the focus is on the systematic handling of information in companies and value chains and thus on the question of how reality can be reflected in a value-adding way through digital twins. The controllability of networked structures and process chains is coming to the fore. As an Industrial Advisor for Digital Transformation, I build bridges between disciplines on the one hand and between the perspectives of entrepreneurial reality and the theory of digital potential in constant change on the other, with the aim of creating robust and reliable structures in which companies can invest.
